The new site is under construction so please be patient as I add more features to it, such as RSS feeds etc.

I use Ruby on Rails to create the site from scratch.

This site will no longer be available starting from tomorrow.

Moving blog to something else

I was thinking about this for a long time. I want to move my blog to something else that will look like a blog but not exactly. It is going to be on a different URL too. There are four reasons behind this decision:

My current hosting provider stops supporting Wordpress. (my blog runs on a shared hosting account)
7deeds doesn’t represent what I do or who I am anymore
I want to include more activities that don’t really belong here but I don’t want to start 10 different blogs
I want to promote my personal business(es)

As a programmer, I want to be a wise guy and also break the rule “Don’t reinvent the wheel”. I will not use any blogging or CMS platform. I will rather create it from scratch using Rails. Please feel free to call me names.

More about the move later. When everything is ready, I will notify you through the last post for this blog.

Facebook voting request was ignored

The last few days, whenever I went to check out my Facebook account, I got a request from Facebook to vote saying if I agree with the latest changes or not.

I learned now that the percentage of Facebook users that actually voted reached the anemic 0.3%. That is 600.000 users out of 200 million. Facebook said that in order to take the voting into account, they had to have 30% user participation.

Facebook says the small participation is because it was the first time they tried to ask people to vote about something. Personally, the reason I didn’t bother was that I was bored reading about the latest changes in order to form my opinion.

Ok, ok, I am a lazy bastard.

Nowadays, I use C# to write code most of the time. I don’t have the time I used to have for researching and learning new languages/frameworks/etc., but I try my best to learn something new, at least once every 8-12 months. My last try was Ruby on Rails. Still trying to tame the beast.

A couple of days ago, I stumbled upon Android, and I have to admit it looks really interesting. I would like to learn more about it and even develop a small application on my spare time (is there any?), although I would have to remember my Java along the way.

There is also an interesting competition going on for the best apps written for the platform, that could win quite a large amount of money.

Now, what is more difficult? Thinking an idea about a mobile app or implementing it?
